Polka Dot Door Books specializes in children’s picture books from the past, celebrating the craft and imagination of books that continue to inspire. Every vintage book rescued is a sustainable way to pass timeless artistry to a new generation.

Because authentic representation was often missing in earlier publishing, the collection also includes thoughtfully chosen, contemporary, preloved picture books that reflect the diverse experiences of all children. Together, they tell a fuller story of imagination, beauty, and wonder.

A DOORWAY TO MEMORY, ART AND WONDER.

Occasionally, in my search for beautiful, vintage picture books, I come across one whose illustrations stir up forgotten memories from long ago. I'll crack open a musty old book and it's like being transported through a magical door, to how I felt when I was a child. It never fails to take my breath away.

Building Polka Dot Door Books, I've learned that nearly everyone has a childhood book they remember fondly. Maybe it was the artistry of the illustrations; maybe the story transported them to another time or place or dimension; maybe it provided a mirror for their feelings, life or culture; maybe it was the just plain silliness of a wacky tale.

My hope is that I can offer a key for a new generation, so that all kids can pass through the Polka Dot Door.
