After Good-Night

In a pleasantly gentle nighttime book, Nan is awake after her brothers and parents go to sleep. She sees car lights and hides from them. She hears the water in the toilet tank, and imagines it an ocean upon which she will eventually float away into dreamland on her bed boat. Nan's ordinary bedroom is gradually transformed into a dream landscape of trees filled with images of time and doorways that lead to the soothing ocean of sleep. A book to read over and over to a young child on the way to bed.
