Aunt Mary Buttons

Aunt Marry Buttons is a love story between a dying aunt and her young niece. Despite pain and discomfort, Aunt Mary and Mimi's years together are full of tenderness and fun. Slowly, year by year, Aunt Mary prepares the little girl for life without her.

Illustrator Diane Jarvis Jones dreamt the concept of the button blanket, and while she still can't draw, paint, or sketch, just give her a few beads and some thread and she'll make you an uncle. The blankets, designed to make you smile or soothe your soul, are exhibited in galleries in Vancouver.
