A Teddy Bear, who feels too large for the dollhouse where he lives, is magically reduced to the size of a pumpkin seed and carried underground by a bossy ant. The ants think Bear is an ant baby, and they put him in the ant nursery with the other grubs. For the Bear, the ant nurses are more like wardens- they never rest, and they keep a close eye on him. The society is so well-ordered that escape seems impossible. Still, Bear finds that by acting boldly he can confuse his captors and regain his original size.
