Brian Wildsmith's 1, 2, 3's

Remembering a child’s love of form and colour, Brian Wildsmith has devised a counting book of brilliant simplicity. He has illustrated each numeral - from one to ten - with a picture made up of three basic shapes -rectangles, circles and triangles - in a kaleidoscope of colours. From the simple circle illustrating ‘one’, the shapes build up to form recognisable objects until, at the end of the book, there are a number of puzzle pictures designed to test the child’s assimilation of the text. This is counting made easy and pleasurable.
