Set in Seville, Carmen tells the tragic story of the free-spirited Carmen and Don José, a soldier who becomes obsessed with her. When Carmen falls in love with the celebrated bullfighter Escamillo, Don José’s jealousy leads the story toward its tragic conclusion. Bizet’s opera is famous for music including the “Habanera” and “Toreador Song.”
