Morris wants to learn to read and count so he can buy candy at the candy store. A man directs him to a school, where the teacher (Miss Fine) and the children happily welcome the moose into their classroom. Because Morris is so large, he doesn't fit into a standard desk and must sit on top of one. Throughout the day, he participates in typical school activities like the alphabet, counting, hoof-painting, and make-believe. By the end of the day, Morris is thrilled with what he has learned.
