Every puppy must learn to behave. Bit Pinkerton just won't, and it's hard to win a battle of wills with a dog that's as big as a pony! When Pinkerton is told to come, he jumps out of the window. Instead of fetching the newspaper, he chews it up. Pinkerton's desperate owners try sending him to obedience school, but he flunks out in record time. Children are sure to be delighted by Pinkerton, especially when he comes face to face with a burglar and discovers a good use for his bad habits.
Note: This book was challenged, but never banned, for the illustrations of a burglar threatening the family with a gun. Mr. Kellogg stated that he went with what was a standard burglar image for the time period in which the book was initially published. But after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, a new edition was published that reworks the story and removes the gun entirely, changing up to a burglar with a flashlight because Mr. Kellogg felt obliged to take a stand with those fighting against gun violence in the wake of that tragedy. This copy is in it's original form with the gun.
