After a wonderful summer on the river bank with his new companion the Water Rat, Mole find himself outside one snowy night and is overwhelmed by desire to visit his own little house. Helped by Ratty, he soon has the place in good shape, and a party of carolling field-mice bring seasonal cheer. Abridged for younger readers.
