Once when animals still talked and the sky reached all the way to the ground there was a boy who traveled the trees. Then one cool night the moon was suddenly trapped by the fingers of Grandaddy Maple, and the boy knew it was up to him to set the moon free. When he finally touched it, however, the boy discovered his hand was coated with moon sugar and, rather than rescuing the moon, he began to eat it. He ate it, and ate it, until, drifting up into the dark night sky, he wondered if he would ever return.
