Long ago, during the Ice Age, a young cave boy named Kip is making his way home with a delicious sack of woolly rhinoceros ribs when a hungry wolf begins following him. Kip tries to send the wolf away, but soon discovers that his unwelcome companion has some very useful talents. With his sharp ears, keen nose, and watchful eyes, Paleowolf warns Kip of approaching dangers, including a cave bear, a mighty mammoth, and a saber-toothed cat. Realizing they make a wonderful team, Kip offers to share his food in exchange for the wolf's protection. And so begins a friendship that may have created the very first dog!
