At the far end of England, in the tiny Cornish village of Mousehole, a cat called Mowzer once lived with an old fisherman named Tom. The two led a very pleasant life together, dining every day on mouth-watering meals of fresh fish Tom had caught. But one terrible winter, the Great Storm-Cat came to prowl outside the harbor, snarling and whipping up giant waves, and none of the fishing boats could go out to sea. With Christmas coming, Tom bravely volunteered to risk his life so the children of Mousehole would not go hungry. But Mowzer knew only another cat had the power to soothe the anger of the Great Storm-Cat and bring food to the people of Mousehole at Christmastime.
