Bunby, the stuffed rabbit, did not like being left alone all day by two children to whom he belonged, so he decided to go off by himself on John's toy sailboat. Helped by the Siamese cat, he managed to get the boat to the stream. He felt very brave and very excited. Cows and horses, grazing in the fields, looked at him in great surprise as he sailed by. But before long, a gust of wind nearly capsized the boat and Bunby fell into the water!
How he got rescued and how he finally got home again that evening, leaving the boat stuck in the reeds, made a day full of delightful and sometimes scary surprises for Bunby, surprises that small children will eagerly share as they listen to Bunby's story and look at the charming illustrations.
