Dartmouth Alumni Review 12/1948: Proceeding on the assumption that the "proof of the pudding is in the eating," we have spoonfed a copy of Robert L. May's Winking Willie on our three unsuspecting juveniles, and the eating thereof proved to be good. Winking Willie is the familiar story of the social pariah, in this instance about a little dog with an out-size tail. The way in which Willie overcomes his disability and triumphs over his uncharitable friends is animated, colorful and satisfying to the child's fast developing regard for achievement. Marion Guild's illustrations are bright, frequent and abetting.
