Zippy, the chimpanzee, is now almost four years old. He was born in Africa, and has lived with Bonnie and Lee Ecuyer since he was three months old. He has been trained by Lee to eat at the table, using a fork and spoon, to drink from a glass, to brush his teeth, and to dress himself. He is always treated like a child of his own age. Zippy has become famous as a television performer on the Ed Sullivan, Garry Moore, Howdy Doody, and other television shows.

Zippy loves to be with children. Once he was invited to spend a day at a real school. Of course he couldn't read or write or talk, but he could understand what was said to him. Lee Ecuyer and the publishers of Zippy the Chimp, the first book about Zippy, are pleased to bring you the story of his day at school. All the pictures in this book are real photographs of Zippy.
